Celebrate Pride 2024 in Lethbridge!

Are you loud and proud about being in Lethbridge? Well, we sure are, which is why every June, Lethbridge residents come together to put on their brightest colours and wear every vibrant hue with pride as we celebrate the people, contributions, and history of 2SLGBTQI+ people in Southern Alberta and Canada. With summer fast approaching and the days growing longer, there are more ways than ever before to show your pride all month long with pride events happening around the city! Pride Weekend Events June 21st - 23rd

Pre-Parade Breakfast at Chef Stella’s

When: June 22nd 8 - 11 AM Where: Galt Gardens

Everyone in Lethbridge knows that pride weekend wouldn't be complete without the pre-parade breakfast hosted at Chef Stella's! Chef Stella has been making delicious pre-parade breakfasts for years, and it's become a beloved pride tradition locally. Head to Chef Stella's before the parade to enjoy a delicious breakfast, no matter what you crave!

Pride Parade

When: June 22nd 11 AM - 12 PM Where: Galt Gardens

What might be the biggest pride event of the year in Lethbridge grows bigger every year. We are talking about the pride parade, of course! Enjoy a variety of floats from local businesses and organizations that work directly in the community to support LGBTQI2S+ people in Lethbridge year-round. Wear your brightest colours and show up to show your support for the LGBTQI2S+ community in Lethbridge, and have fun while doing it! The fund starts on June 22nd at 11 AM behind the civic ice centre and will march towards Galt Gardens!

Pride in the Park Sponsored by TD Bank

When: June 22nd 12 - 5 PM Where: Galt Gardens

After all the fun of the parade, the pride doesn’t have to stop there, with Pride in the Park supported by TD Bank in partnership with Lethbridge Pride Society to help put on an afternoon of fun from 12 PM – 5 PM on June 22nd, with food vendors, a vendor marketplace, activities for all ages throughout the gardens, a beer garden and drag performances from local performers throughout the day.

The 16th Annual Pride Party

When: June 22nd 12 - 5 PM Where: Southern Alberta Ethnic Association

After Pride in the Park, the celebrations continue with the 16th Annual Pride Dance! The Pride dance will start from 8 – 9 PM at the Southern Alberta Ethnic Association. The Pride Party will feature incredible local performers alongside the Winner of Season 4, Venus and Runner up, Aurora Matrix! The performances will also feature local favourites such as Poppy Puffter, Mr. Justin Syde, Imogen Rouge, Dayna Hart, Addi Pose, and Rose Butch! Enjoy the night with hosts Karla Marx and B. Sassidy, as well as music by DJ RABBYT and DJ DOPEMINE! Don't miss out on this spectacular pride party! If dancing isn't your thing, UgliStuffs will also be there for those interested in making their very own friendship bracelets!

Pride Picnic at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden

When: June 7th @ 4 PM Where: Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden

Enjoy the beauty of Nikka Yuko Japanese garden on a bright summer afternoon with friends and family! Bring you picnic blanket, and you favourite outdoor seating option, and enjoy the tranquil garden while celebrating pride in Lethbridge! General admission is required for entry, with the ability to purchase an additional Pride Zensai (Appetizer) Picnic Package to elevate your Pride Picnic Experience at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden!

Queer Variety Show

When: June 7th @ 8 PM Where: The Slice Bar & Stage

The slice will be hosting a Queer Variety Show with local performers bringing energy and creativity to the stage! The show is 18+, and tickets are available for $15 in advance or $20 at the door. The show is not only an excellent opportunity to support local performers but also a great way to bring the local community together!

Pride Refashion Workshop

When: June 8th @ 1 PM Where: Southern Alberta Art Gallery

Join guest artists Tyler Alexander and Kylie Fineday to alter, repair, and repurpose your beloved clothes! Whether you’re looking to patch a hole in your favourite shirt or bring a little pizazz back to a hoodie hiding in the back of the closet, this is the perfect event to bring you clothes so you can wear them with pride! Supplies will be provided for this free drop-in workshop, but attendees are welcome to bring their clothing if they wish to alter it! Get Juicy 5 Ft. Icesis Couture @ The Owl

When: June 8th @ 8 PM Where: The Owl Acoustic Lounge

The Owl Acoustic Lounge will have a winner in the house, with a special guest: Season 2 of Canada’s Drag Race, Icesis Couture winner! Icesis Couture and the show-stopping lineup of local drag artists will be putting on a night of performances worthy of 10’s across the board! Make sure you grab your tickets before they sell out, and get ready to get juicy with Icesis Couture at the Owl Acoustic Lounge!

Trans March June

When: June 16th @ 1 PM Where: Galt Gardens

Kick off the official pride week celebrations by showing up and supporting the trans march on Sunday, June 16th, from 1 PM to 2 PM. The march will start near the stage area of Galt Gardens and then continue to its end point at city hall. The route itself is wheelchair-accessible, and everyone is welcome to show support at this event!

Drag Me to Bingo

When: June 18th @ 7 PM Where: Temptations Bar and Sheesha Lounge

Babes and Brews has an exciting partnership with Temptations Bar & Sheesha Lounge to offer an exciting night of drag performances and bingo! Admission is $10 and includes one bingo card, with additional bingo cards available for $5 each. You can expect a night of fun, humour, and prizes hosted by local drag superstars The Beauty Quinn and Poppy Puffter! Don’t miss out on this pride event in Lethbridge; it’ll be anything but a drag! Analog Books is offering pride-themed versions of some of its classic merch this month, with proceeds from each purchase being donated to Lethbridge Pride Fest as well! Crosswalks

Lethbridge is proud to have two permanent crosswalks with the updated pride flag and the trans flag on 3rd Ave South. The crosswalks use special paint that is better than previous paints at withstanding different weather conditions and degradation from being driven on over time. They also feature a porous concrete base to help absorb the paint.

As you explore downtown Lethbridge, watch for these vibrant crosswalks — a perfect prelude to the exciting pride events this June.

History

The Lethbridge Pride Fest Society became an integrated and officially recognized incorporated society in Alberta in 2011. After its incorporation, it took over the work of GALA/LA (Gay and Lesbian Alliance of Lethbridge Area) and has celebrated the 2SLGBTQI+ community in Lethbridge.

Lethbridge Pride Fest Society is an integral part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Lethbridge. Their main goal is to help support, foster, and grow inclusive messaging and spaces for the people of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Lethbridge. No matter your gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, race, religion, age, disability, body size, or physical appearance, you can find a welcoming community with the Lethbridge Pride Fest Society.
