Series VI – Music for Royalty: Ksiazek on the Keys

When: May 5th 2025 From 7:30pm-9:30pm

When: May 5th 2025 From 7:30pm-9:30pm

Beethoven used a novel approach while creating the heroic Emperor Concerto; it was a time of great change for him during a war-ridden era and time to let go of old habits.  This concerto hints at the larger than life works that would herald Beethoven’s new musical style.  At the time, Vienna was under siege by Napoleon’s armies.  Beethoven wrote that there was “nothing but drums, cannons, men, and misery” around him and fled to his brother’s cellar, covering his ears with pillows to protect his fading hearing.  That sounds like ideal circumstances under which to compose, right?  No cannons will be harmed in the performance of the Emperor Concerto.

Canada Day 2025 Celebrations

Get ready for a bigger, better and more accessible Canada Day in Lethbridge!

Beginning in July 2025, the City of Lethbridge and Lethbridge District & Exhibition (LDE) will combine forces to host Canada’s birthday. Some activities will stay at Henderson Lake Park (including the popular Kid Zone) while others will shift across the street to LDE.

The event’s growing popularity was on display in 2024, with an estimated 12,000 attendees. As the crowds have grown, so have some of the challenges, like overcrowding, park damage and security. These are just a few concerns to be addressed starting in 2025.

“Moving part of the event to LDE brings a lot of benefits,” says Travis Grindle, Recreation Services Manager. “There’s more parking for food trucks, better security sightlines and we’re creating more open space to enjoy the celebrations and the park. It’s about improving the visitor and vendor experience, now and as the event continues to grow into the future.”

Paul Kingsmith, Director of Community Engagement at LDE, adds, “We’re thrilled to be involved in this celebration and give back to the community. Our large outdoor spaces are perfect for hosting the food trucks and main stage. The indoor amenities at the Agri-food Hub & Trade Centre, like washrooms and concession areas, will also contribute to the atmosphere.”

This new partnership also brings significant financial benefits for both organizations. Shifting some events away from the park will help reduce the City’s operational costs and provide LDE more revenue opportunities.

“This partnership is truly a win-win for everyone involved,” says Mayor Blaine Hyggen. “It preserves the beauty of Henderson Lake Park and allows LDE to showcase their amazing spaces. I applaud our Administration and LDE for making Canada Day a more enjoyable event.”

Weather permitting, the event will end with an exciting display in the sky.

August 22-24, 7 P.M. at Grandstands

Lethbridge & District Exhibition is proud to once again host the Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo from August 22-24, 2024. This three-day event is the only CPRA rodeo in Lethbridge that showcases the history, people, and culture of Southern Alberta.

Featured nightly, the relay races are one of the most high-intensity elements of the Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo. Often referred to as “North America’s original extreme sport” the races have been a part of Indigenous life for hundreds of years.

The Rodeo itself also features themed nights for each of its three days, with a Blackfoot Confederacy Celebrations Night on Friday, Family Night on Saturday, and AG Community Night on Sunday. Experience horse racing like never before as riders race bareback in laps around a track and exchange horses after every lap by jumping from one horse to another.

Hotel California - The Original Eagles Tribute

When The Eagles stopped to catch their breath a few decades ago, having sold over 100 million records, collected six Grammys, and enjoyed six #1 albums, Hotel California began a pioneering journey through their history-making music that has taken them around the globe and thrilled hundreds of thousands of Eagles fans.
