The Alaska Highway

Lethbridge may be thousands of miles — kilometres for us Canadians — away from Dawson Creek and Mile 0 of the Alaska Highway, but when you cross the Montana border into Alberta, Canada, the best routes begin in Lethbridge.

What is the Alaska Highway?

The Alaska Highway is a 1,387 miles (2,232 KM) highway built during World War II, which connects Dawson Creek in British Columbia, Canada to Delta Junction in Alaska. But this "just the facts" description entirely misses the romantic touristic possibilities.

The Alaska Highways is one of the world's great drives. Crossing provinces, territories, states and countries, the highways isn't just long, stunning scenery lines the lanes. It's no wonder that it's on so many travellers' bucket lists.
