What to Do on a Romance-Themed Trip to Lethbridge
February 10, 2025
Is there anything better than a romantic getaway with your beloved? If you’re looking for a love-filled weekend that combines great food, fun things to do, and a bit of relaxation, look no further than our charming city of Lethbridge. Read on for a 2-day itinerary that amps up the romance and will ensure you fall in love with your sweetheart all over again.
Including where to stay, where to eat, and what to do to get sparks flying, here are our top recommendations for a romantic trip to Lethbridge.

Arrival Night: Relax and Unwind
For this romantic itinerary, the perfect place to stay is the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge. Our tip? Try to reserve one of the rooms that overlook the lush indoor courtyard. Check in, drop off your bags, but don’t get too cozy - first, you’ll want to indulge in a fantastic meal to start your trip off right.
Call us old-fashioned, but when we think romance, we instantly think of an intimate dinner for two. Thankfully, Italian Table - which is conveniently located in the hotel - is known for some of the best Italian cuisine in the city (and we won’t blame you if you share your own Lady and the Tramp moment over a plate of pasta). With friendly service, signature cocktails, and a menu filled with familiar favourites such as handmade pasta, wood-fired pizza, and a delicious antipasto platter to share, time will fly in each other’s company. And don’t forget about dessert; we recommend the “Socialize and Share” option to try a little of everything!
Retire to your room to get some rest before your romantic Lethbridge adventure.

Romance in Lethbridge, Day 1: Spas, Culture, and Glittering Lights
9:00 a.m.: Start your day with a complimentary breakfast at the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge, or take a short stroll to Bread Milk & Honey, a locally-owned café that boasts a welcoming atmosphere and a mean espresso. There’s a great selection of breakfast sandwiches, pastries, overnight oats, and more, including a fun list of specialty coffee drinks. Bonus: Bread Milk & Honey partners with Lethbridge Soup Kitchen, so a visit here helps the community, too.

10:30 a.m.: What better way to start a trip than with a relaxing visit to the spa? Head to The Spa at Olivine, where you and your partner can luxuriate in a couples’ massage and more; we recommend trying their halotherapy salt experience to effectively cleanse, detox, and give you both a unique stress reliever. With a mission to always go above and beyond the industry expectations for guests, The Spa at Olivine provides the ultimate pampering experience. Make sure to book your treatment well in advance of your trip to secure your appointment!
12:30 p.m.: Feeling blissed out and a little bit… hungry? Make your way to Streatside Eatery for lunch, where you’ll find a large selection of hearty meals. With options such as burgers, salads, wraps, pasta, and a few international selections, there’s something for everyone here. Pro tip: the cheesecakes at Streatside Eatery are famous, so save room for a sweet treat!

2 p.m.: There’s nothing like a little culture to get the conversation flowing. Head to Lethbridge’s must-see centres: the Southern Alberta Art Gallery (SAAG), Casa, and the Galt Museum.
At SAAG, you’ll discover contemporary artists who challenge boundaries. Take in the exhibitions from local, domestic, and international artists as you chat about the thought-provoking pieces with your significant other.
Next, head to Casa, an interdisciplinary arts centre. One of the things you’ll find here is a free art gallery that exhibits fine art and crafts from southern Alberta. Also keep an eye out for workshops and classes taking place at the centre, which would be a very memorable way to spend an afternoon!
Finally, the Galt Museum is perched on the edge of the coulees, offering stunning views outside, along with exceptional cultural programming within. Explore their permanent exhibit to learn more about the history of the area and then dive deeper into any of the travelling collections that are always interesting and exciting.

5:30 p.m.: All that art and culture probably made you hungry, so head to Steel and Vines for one of the best dining experiences in Lethbridge. Known for their attention to detail and their excellent wine list, expect a curated menu of mouthwatering dishes that are perfect for sharing. While the selection of wine is one of the highlights of a visit to Steel and Vines, there’s also a non-alcoholic section.
7:30 p.m.: You can’t go to Lethbridge and not experience Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden. If visiting between November and the end of February, their Winter Light Festival combines the beauty of nature in a serene setting. Hand in hand, walk-through displays of over 170,000 lights for the ideal way to cap off a romantic day in Lethbridge. It will make for an evening neither of you will soon forget.

If you’re here during the warmer months, the Gardens exist as a tranquil paradise in the midst of our bustling city. Visit to better connect with the important cultural history of our region, and with each other.
Romance in Lethbridge, Day 2: Outdoor Strolls, Downtown Shopping, and Live Entertainment
9:00 a.m.: Time for breakfast! Eat at the hotel or make the quick drive to Sonder Coffee and try one of their famous waffles (in a variety of sweet or savoury flavours to best suit your mood) along with their excellent coffee.
10:30 a.m.: After filling up, now’s the perfect opportunity to see a bit more of Lethbridge’s beautiful outdoors. Head down into the coulees to look up at the historic High-Level Bridge and walk hand-in-hand along the river’s edge. Make a stop at the Helen Schuler Nature Centre to learn more about the local flora and fauna. And don’t miss heading up to the patio on the second floor; it’s the ideal spot to capture the vital smoochin’ selfie that will memorialize the trip!

12:30 p.m.: After a long walk, it’s time to relax at one of Lethbridge’s most iconic - and most romantic - restaurants, the Water Tower Grill and Bar. Once a functioning water tower, the restaurant now boasts some of the best panoramic views of Lethbridge, making it the perfect backdrop for a romantic midday meal. Enjoy a selection of small plates, mains, steaks, and more to share; there’s also a terrific cocktail menu if you’re after a cheeky lunchtime tipple. Your partner already makes you feel on top of the world, but lunch at the Water Tower Grill and Bar will definitely confirm it.
2:00 p.m.: The afternoon is yours to do as you please in downtown Lethbridge! Thankfully, there’s no shortage of places to wander and shop. Meander around Lethbridge’s numerous heritage buildings, many of which are home to stores selling local goods including jewellery, art, chocolate, candles, and more, providing lots of options for a thoughtful gift for your partner. Our picks: Silla offers quirky gifts and other mementos, Analog Books is the perfect spot to find your next read (don’t forget to say hi to their shop cat Hugo), Purple Hippo Boutique is full of locally-made items, and stop by Cookie Crimes if you’re craving a sweet snack.

Looking for something more active to do? If visiting in winter, we hope you packed along your ice skates! While you’re downtown and if the weather is cooperating, head to Festival Square to enjoy a spin on the outdoor rink. Or head indoors to Ugli Stuffs to make your own tumbler or t-shirt, or Color Me Mine to paint your own pottery. If you’re more of a dynamic problem-solving-duo, there are also several escape rooms in the city to choose from.
6:00 p.m.: After freshening up at the hotel, it’s time for the last stop on your culinary adventure in Lethbridge. Bourbon & Butter is a locals’ favourite, known for fine dining, a warm atmosphere, and welcoming staff. The menu is small but mighty, and there’s a strong focus on innovation and creativity when it comes to the tasty dishes. There’s also a tantalizing list of cocktails and mocktails on offer.
7:30 p.m.: Round out your amazing romantic holiday to Lethbridge with a bit of live entertainment! Whatever you and your partner are after, there’s sure to be a show that complements your tastes. Good Times is the ideal spot for some comedy, The Owl Acoustic Lounge is the place to be for open mic nights, drag shows, local musicians, trivia quizzes, and more. Check out the Yates Memorial Centre for a variety of shows that guarantee to entertain, including productions by our local New West Theatre group. And if you’re looking for a big event, time your getaway with one of the many sports games or concerts at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena.

How is it already time to go home?
It’s true what they say: time flies when you’re having fun. And with this itinerary, you’re sure to have made many romantic memories with your partner, whether it was with a couples’ massage, a discussion about art, or a delicious meal spent across the table from one another.
