Thank you to the Downtown Lethbridge Business Revitalization Zone, Economic Development Lethbridge, and the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce for partnering with Tourism Lethbridge on this Snow Much Love Lethbridge initiative.

This Winter - Be Active

Lethbridge has over 130 parks and natural areas begging to be explored in winter. The well-established trail system and nature opportunities are abundant and easily accessible, but Lethbridge’s central location also allows for exploration outside the city limits. The mountains are only a quick drive away!

Trails around Lethbridge
Unlike our more northern counterparts, Lethbridge has relatively mild winters, so the extensive paved pathways and gravel trails throughout the city can be enjoyed year-round. The most extensive accessible route to see the city's sights is the Coal Banks Trail - a 30 km route from the west side of Lethbridge, across the river valley, and all the way to Henderson and Pavan Park.

Downtown Ice Rink
A fun new addition to the winter scene in Lethbridge, the downtown ice rink in Festival Square is a family-friendly activity or even a unique date night idea. Grab your skates, take a spin, and then check out the local shops in the surrounding blocks.

Castle Mountain
Carve up some southern Alberta ‘pow at Castle Mountain Ski Resort! This lesser-visited gem of a ski hill is found in nearby Crowsnest Pass and offers some rad routes while having a quaint and friendly small-town vibe.

Winter Hiking, Snowshoeing, or Cross-Country Skiing
Breathe in the crisp mountain air on a hike in the beautiful Rocky Mountains in the Crowsnest Pass or Waterton Lakes National Park. Both locations are known for their abundant hiking opportunities in the summer, but in the winter, you enjoy all of that rugged wilderness without the crowds.

Sledding
What more basic winter Canadiana can you get than sledding?! Lethbridge is not a mountain town, but the immense coulees give a thrill-seeking sledder more than enough velocity. The Sugar Bowl, located just off Scenic Drive S, is the local spot for sledding adventures. Alternatively, many people practice snowboarding on the small hill in preparation for the bigger slopes.

This Winter - Be Enlightened

Work your mind in new and intriguing ways! Lethbridge has some exciting events on tap for February, and is close to many world-class attractions.

International Peace Pow Wow
Immerse yourself in traditional First Nations culture and the steady rhythm of drumming and dancing at the International Peace Pow Wow. This open event is an annual celebration through dance and an introduction to Blackfoot customs.

SAAG Artist Line-up
Through a wonderfully thoughtful rotation of exhibitions, SAAG brings artists’ thoughts and designs to the forefront for visitors to connect with.

Galt Museum & Archives
The Galt Museum is the largest museum in the province south of Calgary. They offer a packed program schedule that includes walking tours, special events and rotating exhibitions, in addition to their robust standing gallery and archival documents.

UNESCO Sites
Lethbridge is situated in the middle of Dinosaur Provincial Park, Head-Smashed-in-Buffalo-Jump, Writing on Stone Provincial Park, and the International Peace Park (Waterton), so our city is the perfect spot to park yourself after full days of exploring and learning.

This Winter - Be Entertained

For a small city, Lethbridge offers some impressive entertainment! With big local events such as WHL hockey, live shows, and a stunning winter lights display, there are a lot of magical winter moments to behold.

Winter Lights at Nikka Yuko (link to stay & play)
Stay overnight in Lethbridge and witness the twinkling and intricate light display at the notable Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden, which is still open through February. The whole garden is thoughtfully laid out and maintained, and the attention to detail is still apparent even in the colder months.

Hurricanes
WHL hockey is like nothing else, and the atmosphere at a Lethbridge Hurricanes game is a treat to experience. Currently sitting near the top of the Central Division, the ‘Canes have several exciting home games throughout February.

Live Shows
Lethbridge may be a small city, but the talent and entertainment value is off the charts! Multiple locations are available to enjoy live entertainment, depending on what you’re looking for. Some options to check out include:

  • New West Theatre

  • Good Time Lethbridge Comedy Club

  • Owl Acoustic Lounge

PURE Casino events
The Lethbridge Casino is THE place in the city for non-stop entertainment, with a steady stream of vocal talent taking the stage every weekend. Visit for the live music and stay for the atmosphere, while you enjoy a night out on the town.

Whether you embark on an impromptu adventure or are in town to visit relatives or friends, Oki and welcome. We’re glad you’re here and hope you find some magical winter moments in Lethbridge.
