South Country Co-op AG-EXPO
February 24, 2020
Something special is sprouting at Exhibition Park — Western Canada’s Premier agricultural show, the South Country Co-op AG-EXPO returns to Lethbridge February 26 – 28.
Exhibition Park was founded in 1897, making it the fourth oldest Agricultural Society in Alberta. Throughout the years Exhibition Park's look has changed quite a bit as fire claimed the original building in 1925 and renovations happened to the new building. Exhibition park holds a lot of history for Lethbridge with the oldest building being the Heritage Hall built in 1926 and the newer pavilions built from 1961-2000. Though the buildings have changed throughout the years one thing has not, every year—since the late 1890’s— Exhibition Park holds the AG-EXPO and the North American Seed Fair!
Not only is this one of Western Canada’s largest AG-EXPO shows, it’s also one of the last Seed Fairs in Canada. The Seed Fair holds so much history for Exhibition Park that one of the pavilions has a section named after it. The Seed Floor is a section of the South Pavilion, where the bleachers are located and was aptly named this as the Seed Fair used to take up that whole section of the South Pavilion.
This event is BIG! Over 350 indoor and outdoor exhibitors from across North America will be there! Outside, Machinery Row will straddle over 225,000 square feet of space. When you visit, you’ll discover the latest products and technologies and livestock supplies. Plus, your kids will love discovering the farm equipment on show!
FUN FACT: AG-EXPO averages over 7,000 consumers over the three-day show!
