Enjoy the Outdoors

Go Hiking in the Coulees

With Lethbridge's expansive river valley, you can enjoy a wilderness hike without even leaving the city! We have a vast range of trails, with everything from shorter paved trails to longer and rougher paths available. For an easier route, we recommend the Pavan Park loop, but for something more difficult, try the Alexander Wilderness Park loop—it's ups and downs will give you a great workout! While hiking, keep your eyes peeled, as deer, song birds, and bird of prey are common sights.

Use #explorelethbridge on any pictures you post to social media to share your adventures. We love to see people out and exploring all the trials that Lethbridge has to offer!

Cool Off in the Water

Visit a Public Pool or Spray Park in Lethbridge

Lethbridge has a variety of indoor and outdoor pools, though the Henderson Outdoor Pool is a favourite amongst locals in the summertime. Located right next to Henderson Lake Park and Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden, it's easy to make a whole day out of a trip to the pool! If spray parks are more of your thing, both Legacy Park and Gyro Spray Park offer fun features for kids while the Rotary Centennial Fountain offers a quick way to cool down while downtown!

Water-Based Recreation

If you'd like to be on top of the water instead, head to High Level Canoes and Kayaks to rent a boat this summer. This local shop offers 1-day canoe, kayak, and paddleboard rentals, perfect for those who are visiting Lethbridge. With both calm waters and beautiful views, Henderson Lake and the Old Man River are popular paddling locations in Lethbridge. If you're heading to the river, try launching at Indian Battle Park and enjoy a relaxing paddle to Pavan Park. Bring an oar to avoid occasional obstacles and power through slow-moving sections, and remember to stop before the weir to avoid hazards!
