Rural Producers
There’s a world of food experiences just outside the city of Lethbridge. From the small storefronts of local producers to incredible experiences on family-run farms, get the full scope of the rural producers that make up Lethbridge and Southern Alberta’s culinary scene below.
Cattleman’s Chophouse
Located in the town of Picture Butte, a twenty-minute drive north of Lethbridge, Cattlemen’s Chophouse is the perfect escape while remaining close to home, especially when dining al fresco on their patio.
Cattlemen's Chophouse begins with fresh ingredients from local ranchers and farmers. From there, the team of international chefs assemble dishes ranging from classic chophouse fare to international cuisine you’d be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. Shaped by the culture of the prairies, the restaurant is a true example of a farm-to-fork experience.

Featured Producer - Benchmark Angus
Benchmark Angus is a multi-generation ranch raising purebred Angus cattle that is constantly striving to produce the best beef available. Benchmark Premium Natural Angus Beef is hormone-free grades AAA and Prime, and is sold under the name Ben’s Quality Meats.
Known as producing some of the best beef in Southern Alberta, you can’t buy their products at the farm itself, but you can have them delivered. You can also find their meat at local Southern Alberta retailers as well as at certain restaurants; the Water Tower Grill and Bar in Lethbridge and the Cattleman’s Chophouse in Picture Butte both serve Ben’s Quality Meats.
Broek Pork Acres
A local family farm that focuses on quality rather than quantity, Broek Pork Acres raises Heritage Breed Berkshire Pork. Known for its superior taste, juiciness, tenderness, marbling, and rich, sweet, flavour, Berkshire Pork tastes the way pork should taste. The farm represents the true pasture-to-plate process, from growing and raising the animals to marketing directly to customers.
All of their pork is gluten-free and contains no fillers, added water, or GMO ingredients. You can buy their products at their small storefront or at selected retailers around Southern Alberta.

Broxburn Vegetable and Café
At Broxburn Vegetables, they pride themselves on growing with superior quality fields. In the three-acre greenhouse, crops are grown biologically, meaning that natural predators are introduced instead of spraying chemical pesticides to kill the pests.
Focusing on maximum flavour as well as maximum plant benefits, vegetables found at Broxburn Vegetables include vine-ripened tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, beans, broccoli, hot peppers, herbs, and lettuce. The strawberry and raspberry U-pick experience operates from the beginning of July until the first frost.
At the onsite café, fresh produce is incorporated into all their meals, creating an authentic farm-to-table experience. If you can't make it out to the farm, you can try some of their produce at The Italian Table in downtown Lethbridge.
Crystal Springs Cheese
Crystal Springs Cheese is both a labour of love and a family passion. A family-run farm since 1984, the dairy farm and cheese factory focus on perfecting the art of making cheese from scratch. Their aim is to make everyone who visits the farm feel like family, too.
When visiting Crystal Springs Cheese, you can experience a factory tour (call ahead to book). Make sure to stop by the retail store, where you can purchase their products, enjoy a few samples, or kick back with a coffee and some snacks. There’s a selection of goods from around Southern Alberta for sale, too, so it’s a fantastic spot to load up on locally-produced food and drink. Can’t make it to the store? Try Crystal Springs Cheese at nearby Cattleman’s Chophouse and at select retailers around Alberta.

Little Gem Winery
Little Gem Winery’s claim to fame is the haskap berry, a naturally antioxidant-rich super-fruit from which they make all of their wine and cider. Family-run for more than 25 years, the farm saw an opportunity to branch out and create natural, low-intervention wines. Instead of including excessive sulphates or other additives, they avoid over-processing their wines, allowing the natural notes of the haskap berry to shine brightly through.
You can find Little Gem Winery products in various restaurants across Alberta, but make sure to check out the farm itself for their tasting room and farm tours. The winery also has an excellent Dutch-inspired food menu as well as a shop that sells an array of local items, including cheese, honey, meats, and unique Dutch imports.
Featured Producer - Luco Farms
Luco Farms is a family-owned business that has grown award-winning pedigree cereal and oilseed crops since 1937. While the farm itself may not be an actual stop on the food tour, you can still find their incredible products at many of the other stops, including Cattleman's Chophouse in Picture Butte and Telegraph Taphouse in Lethbridge. The Luco Farms product is also available at many grocery stores in Lethbridge and area.
Luco Farms’ vision is to provide fresh, farm-to-table products that professional and home chefs can use to create new and exciting flavour profiles in their cooking. Prairie Hill Farms
Prairie Hill Farms processes food and beverages, with the main products being BBQ sauces, juice, jams, spreads, syrups, and other preserves. The star of the show is the haskap berry, a multi-purpose super-fruit with a great taste and extraordinary health benefits; the facility at Prairie Hill Farms is capable of freeze-drying and grinding the berries into powdered form or packaging them as a whole berry.
At the farm, the storefront gives visitors a chance to see all the incredible products their magic haskap berries have been turned into, from powders to protein bars to jam and everything in between.
