What to Do in Lethbridge this May

What to Do in Lethbridge This May

After a winter that didn’t really commit, and a spring that’s been on and off, May is the month where things finally start to feel consistent again. You can start planning your days around being out instead of checking the forecast every five minutes.

Get Outdoors!

The coulees are green, the trails are ready for walking and running, and suddenly being outside becomes part of your everyday plans, not something you squeeze in.

For those fair-weather runners and walkers, May is also when community events really pick up again. These aren’t just races or walks, they’re easy ways to experience the city alongside locals, at your own pace.

Be sure to check the links for details:

  • Rita’s Run
A community run that raises awareness and support for local mental health initiatives.
  • LCI Donut Dash
One of the most fun runs of the season—because yes, donuts are involved.

Explore Lethbridge’s major attractions

May is the perfect month to take in Lethbridge’s major attractions at a slower pace. Everything is open, the weather is comfortable, and you can take your time exploring.

  • Galt Museum & Archives – perched above the coulees with one of the best views of the High Level Bridge, and a must-visit for local history and stories of the region.
  • Fort Whoop-Up – step back into the city’s frontier past and experience one of Lethbridge’s most iconic historic sites.
  • Helen Schuler Nature Centre – located right in the coulees, offering easy access to trails, exhibits, and nature programming.
  • SAAG (Southern Alberta Art Gallery) – contemporary exhibitions and community programming, including the Art Auction on May 2nd.
  • Casa (Lethbridge Arts Centre) – a hub for local creativity, performances, and cultural experiences.
  • Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden – one of the city’s most peaceful spaces, perfect for a slow walk as the gardens come into season.

Just outside the city, the Alberta Birds of Prey Centre in Coaldale is also well worth the short trip.

For the Food Lovers:

May is also when Lethbridge’s food scene really starts to move outdoors again.
This is the start of that stretch where weekends naturally start revolving around what’s happening outside, markets, food trucks, and festivals all making a return.

  • Taco Fest – one of the most anticipated food events of the season, bringing energy, flavour, and a full-day festival feel downtown.
  • Foodie Fest – a celebration of local eats, food vendors, and community favourites.
  • Food Truck Fridays – an easy weekly go-to as the weather warms up, perfect for a casual night out.
  • Sip, Taste, Explore – a self-guided experience on the Explore Lethbridge app featuring local businesses and hidden gems to discover your next favourite stop.

Celebrate Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is May 10th, and Lethbridge has plenty of ways to make the weekend special.
Whether it’s brunch, a family outing, or a slow morning together there are multiple to choose from.

Brunch spots fill up quickly, so be sure to reserve early.

Take me out to Spitz Stadium

The Lethbridge Bulls are hosting the Canadian Grand Slam Baseball Showcase & Festival from May 21–31.

It’s a major stretch of baseball in the city, bringing teams, energy, and plenty of action to Spitz Stadium.

And don’t forget: #BULLIEVEIT, because the home opener is May 28th.
