Whether it’s for a bachelor trip, a long-overdue reunion, or simply a chance to spend some quality time with the guys, Lethbridge is a fantastic destination for a weekend away. Friday
Head to the Holiday Inn Lethbridge, our hotel choice for your guys’ weekend. The hotel is only a short jaunt from the VisitLethbridge.com Arena, making it a convenient location if you’re hoping to catch a concert or a Canes hockey game. The Holiday Inn Lethbridge also comes with amenities like a fitness centre, pool, and onsite restaurant (a Tony Roma’s, ideal if you get a craving for ribs).
Drop off your bags and make your way to The Canadian Brewhouse, a lively sports pub where you’ll find a ton of shareables, burgers, pizzas, and poutines as well as a terrific selection of beers on tap. If you’re there between 4:00 PM. and 7:00 PM, take advantage of the Friday “Appy Hour Hat Trick”, when you can buy two appetizers and get the third for free. From here, head to an event at the arena or stick around to catch a game in the pub, where you’ll also find bowling and a large outdoor patio.
Saturday
It’s your first full day in Lethbridge, so you’ll need a filling breakfast to start your day! Check out the hotel’s ground floor for breakfast at the onsite restaurant, or make your way to Frank’s Redwood Specialty Waffle Café for some of the best (and most innovative) waffles in town. Don’t forget to try some of their specialty coffee drinks for a caffeine kick to keep you going during the fun day ahead.
Next up, it’s time for a round of golf. Known as a golfer’s paradise, Lethbridge has the warmest weather and longest golf season east of the Rocky Mountains, and with five golf courses less than 20 minutes from downtown, getting a round in is a no-brainer. If the weather isn’t on your side during your boys’ weekend, hit up Drop Zone Golf Centre for one of the most realistic indoor golf experiences in the city.
Is there anything better than grabbing a few drinks with friends? After working on your swing, it’s time to catch up with the guys over burgers and beers. Start with lunch at Telegraph Taphouse, where you’ll find excellent burgers, an extensive beer list, and an incredibly welcoming atmosphere. Enjoy the ambiance here for a while before heading out to spend the rest of the afternoon at two of Lethbridge’s most popular microbreweries: Theory Brew and Spectrum Ale Works. Both breweries are on the Highway 3 Ale Trail and offer an amazing range of beers to sample.
After a short rest at the hotel, you might be hungry again. Arrange a ride to Cattlemen’s Chophouse in Picture Butte, which is a short drive north of Lethbridge. Known for its mouthwatering steaks and chops, this farm-to-fork restaurant might be the culinary highlight of your boys’ weekend away. If you’d prefer to stick closer to the hotel, head to The Keg Steakhouse for a guaranteed great meal.
But the night’s not over yet! Check out a Lethbridge Bulls baseball game in summer, a Lethbridge Hurricanes hockey game in winter, or a show at Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club, where you can expect stand-up comedy, live music, and more. Another fun option for your Saturday night is The Place, where you can find arcade games, a dance floor, and so much more.
Sunday
Can you believe it’s already the last day of your boys’ trip to Lethbridge? Start the day off right with breakfast at the hotel, or head to The Penny Coffee House for fresh-baked food and fresh-brewed coffee. Fuel up, because today will be an active one!
After breakfast, it’s time for a morning hike into the coulees. Ravines that were formed by glacial retreat, the coulees are a distinctive phenomenon of Southern Alberta’s landscape and offer lots of opportunities to spot local flora and fauna. We suggest the Bull Park Trail North or the Violet Tendency Route for a moderate hike.
By now, you’ve surely worked up an appetite. Have lunch at Italian Table where you’ll find hearty paninis, pastas, and more, including a fantastic antipasto starter to share with friends.
Next you’re off to DriVR Motorsports, a virtual racetrack that offers full-motion VR simulation racing. If you’ve always wanted to race like a professional driver, this is the place for you! With options for racing everything from go-karts to Formula 1, it’s an amazing bonding experience with the guys.
For your last meal in Lethbridge, Two Guys and a Pizza Place is a perfect way to bid farewell to this memorable boys’ weekend. Having served delicious pizza in the city for more than 20 years, there’s a solid selection of traditional and “revolutionary creations” to choose from, including an extensive list of craft beer and wine for one last toast together.
Time to Head Home
