Discover Local Music in Lethbridge

Lethbridge has always embraced music. From the amazing resources available at Casa to the almost nightly live performances around the city, music is something we know, and it’s something we do well. But though we see music all around us, we often don’t recognize that many of these talented individuals grew up in our very own city. Indeed, many of the musicians that you see performing in the summer Upside Downtown concerts, at events, or even local music venues either grew up in Lethbridge or our surrounding area.

Lethbridge Locals Playlist

Just like we love to support local food, local farms, and local businesses, we love to support local musicians. And what better way to do so than streaming their songs? For your convenience, we have created a playlist featuring many of our favourite songs from musicians who either grew up in Lethbridge or have a connection to the city (some artists even write songs about Lethbridge and its region!).

Not only is this playlist a great way to support the musicians you already know about, it’s the perfect way to discover new artists! The Slice Bar & Grill

No one does pizza and entertainment better than The Slice. For years this venue has been the go-to place for live music in Lethbridge. With new artists and bands coming in nightly, there is always something new to enjoy! And if you want to get involved in the music-making, The Slice often hosts open jams and karaoke nights! There's no doubt a visit to The Slice is a recipe for a good time.

The Owl Acoustic Lounge

The Owl Acoustic Lounge is the perfect place to enjoy live music. This venue is always serving up tasty drinks and delicious food for you to enjoy alongside head-bopping beats. The Owl emphasizes comfort, wanting to make both its performers and its patrons feel right at home. And we can safely say they do this well. Nothing beats the cozy vibes of the Owl and the lively music you can enjoy there.

Upside Downtown Concert Series

Run by the Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge, the Upside Downtown concert series sees new musicians and bands take the stage every Thursday throughout July and August. These outdoor concerts take place on Rotary Square—the outdoor patio of Casa—meaning you can hear the soulful strums of a guitar alongside the chirping of birds and the buzzing of bugs. Nothing beats a concert so in tune with nature's harmonies!

Music Festivals in Lethbridge

Not only do we have live music, we have live music festivals! There's nothing like the feeling of dancing in the middle of a crowd and screaming out the lyrics to your favourite song. Lucky for all of us, Lethbridge hosts many music festivals throughout the summer months. All you've gotta do is choose which one to attend (or if you're like us, choose them all)!

Wide Skies Music Festival

Perhaps the most well known local music festival, Wide Skies is definitely regarded as having one of the coolest venues: the rooftop of the Lethbridge Park 'n' Ride downtown. Usually running over a three-day period, this music festival brings the talent in spades. The bands will have you singing so loud you might just lose your voice!

Thunder in the Bridge

Thunder in the Bridge is the newest addition the Lethbridge's music festival lineup. But last does not equal least, especially in this case! Bringing in both rock and country artists, Thunder in the Bridge has something for everyone. And its location inside the VisitLethbridge.com Arena means that the show will always go on (even if that pesky Lethbridge wind starts to blow). Usually happening in early September, Thunder in the Bridge is the perfect way to have one last night of summer fun before autumn starts to roll in.
