Open Farm Days

Alberta Open Farms Days is an incubator for agri-tourism and rural sustainability. They bring Albertans and visitors to the province together through educational and experiential agricultural-based initiatives to learn about where your food comes from. As well, some of Alberta's most talented chefs and rural communities will be hosting a memorable series of farm-to-table culinary events that will be held around the province using Alberta farm products.

Open Farm Days at a glance

  • Date: Second weekend in August

  • How to get there: Participating farms change from year to year. Check out the Alberta Open Farm Days webpage to learn about the farms participating this year. Please note most farms are located outside of the city and there may be gravel roads to get to the farm.

  • Where to stay: There are a few hotel options located just off 43rd St. S. (like Best Western Plus) on the east side of town. There’s also The Coast or The Sandman on Mayor Magrath Drive if you want to be closer to the downtown and some amazing local restaurants.

  • What to bring: Water, sunscreen and money for events at the farms or to buy local goods!
