MIlitary Museum / Vimy Ridge Armoury

Located inside the Vimy Ridge Armoury at 337 Stubb Ross Rd (Lethbridge Airport), the Lethbridge Military Museum spans about 1,500 sq ft and officially opened on April 18, 2015. Its mission is to preserve and present the rich military heritage of Lethbridge and the surrounding region, from early conflicts like the Boer War to modern-day engagements. The museum holds a range of artifacts, uniform displays, multimedia exhibits (including a PTSD awareness feature), and the poignant “Mural of Remembrance” honouring local veterans.

A highlight is its new “Highlighting Herstory” tour, launched in late 2024, which specifically celebrates women from Southern Alberta who served in the armed forces. The museum’s outdoor courtyard features commemorative Legacy Stones and silhouetted military figures, and its team of volunteers often hosts unveiling ceremonies and community events.

Admission is free (donations encouraged), and the museum operates Wednesday afternoons (12–4 PM) with private visits by arrangement. Especially recommended for history enthusiasts, plan to spend around three hours exploring the exhibits thoroughly. Conveniently accessible and wheelchair-friendly, it provides historical insight and community connection in a compact but impactful space.
