The German Canadian Club
The German Canadian Club is where German tradition lives on in Lethbridge. This organization was founded in 1958 to promote German culture and connect those who seek a connection to it. Though they have been running for more than 60 years, this drive towards community remains constant. Each month, social events like dances, dinners, and Kaffeeklatsch (afternoon coffee and dessert) take place. They even offer language classes for those who want to learn something new or for students seeking another connection to their roots. As the club has grown over the years, it has achieved many of its goals in building a community for German-speaking Canadians. As a result, the club has transitioned into one that focuses more on social activities and the preservation of the community it's built. Today, the German Canadian club welcomes all individuals, including English-speaking Canadians who enjoy the German cultural flavour. This club is a testament to Lethbridge's welcoming nature and the bonds that are built with new Canadian immigrants every day.
