Lethbridge polytechnic is situated on land that has been home to the Blackfoot people for thousands of years. In the spirit of truth and reconciliation, the coulee plant walk highlights Blackfoot History and culture. This self-guided tour explores the tradition plants in the area. Throughout the walk you can learn about the traditional uses and purposes of the plants native to the area. This is also a chance to learn about the creation stories of the Blackfoot peoples and the plants themselves. Those who take the walk are encouraged to consider their place on traditional Siksikaitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy) land as well as the shared connections between the people and the land itself. The Iisskisiniip Coulee Plant Walk is a great way to learn about Blackfoot cultures and gain more mindfulness about our place on traditional Blackfoot land.
