Honouring Traditions and Reconciliation Society
The Honouring Traditions and Reconciliation Society is a grassroots organisation focused on bridging the reconciliation gap. This organisation regularly holds events throughout the year to highlight indigenous culture and its connections to the land Lethbridge resides on. It is also a movement grounded in indigenous ways of knowing. Much of their work involves addictions and grief counselling to help community members heal. The HTRS holds a Pow Wow and artists expo each year to showcase indigenous culture and artists in the spirit of reconciliation. It is also a great way for indigenous and non-indigenous community members to come together in a fun and culturally enlightening event. They also offer cultural safety training. Through their campfire, tipi camps, and professional development courses, people can get more education and understanding of indigenous issues and the history of settler colonialism. The Honouring Traditions and Reconciliation Society has been an important asset along the path of truth and reconciliation in Lethbridge.
