
Fort Macleod Golf Course
Golf was first played in Fort Macleod in 1890; this was the first course to be built between Winnipeg and the West Coast. The area 250 yards from the first tee was used until about 1924 by the North West Mounted Police as a pistol and rifle range, shells can still be found on the side hill. In addition to its historical significance, this 9 hole course is surrounded by picturesque scenery. With a pro-shop and clubhouse, you can feel relaxed and prepared for your day on the green. Fort Macleod Golf Course holds a variety of events and tournaments which may affect the hours the course and clubhouse are open. Be sure to call ahead just in case. Take in the history of the early days of Alberta as well as a game of golf with trees and prairies as your backdrop!
