Bring in 2020 at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden!

We will be celebrating Joya No Kane with Reverend Izumi at the Buddhist Temple of Southern Alberta.

Nikka Yuko will be open from 6PM to Midnight. The Joya No Kane ceremony will begin at 11PM and admission will be FREE after 10:30PM for those attending the Joya No Kane ceremony. All are welcome to join the Joya No Kane ceremony and ringing of the bell 108 times. The number 108 represents the number of earthly desires that afflict and pain the human heart, and it is said that these earthly desires vanish one after another upon hearing each ring. By doing so, we will be purified as we start the new year. This ceremony will be cancelled if the temperature drops below -15C. The garden will still remain open up to -25C.

Horse & Wagon rides will be offered for FREE this night between 6:30-8:30PM!

We will also have Daruma Doll colouring sheets inside the programming tent to help you with setting your goals for the New Year!

Please note: Nikka Yuko closes when the weather drops below -25 Celsius! Please call ahead (403-328-3511) or check our Facebook page for the most up to date information.
